Winning Obama's young supporters
We need to win over Obama's base through reason and kindness (and religion if they believe). We cannot win them by crushing and humiliating them. A person convinced against her will is of the same opinion still.
I thought Notre Dame would be a slam dunk as Conservatives hammered Obama's supporters in the net. But when the time came and these young people stood and cheered, "Yes we can!" did I realize that emotions are more powerful than reason, feelings - stronger than ideas.
Remember how much Obama's people nurtured each fan with tweets, emails, facebook updates et al. We need to be just as solicitous. So, before we insult and ridicule a Liberal, let us recall that our goal is to win this person over, not alienate her.
