Obamacare employer mandate delayed until 2015 to give Democrats breathing room until after 2014 midterm elections, says Treasury source

A Treasury Department official who declined to be named confirmed to MailOnline on Tuesday that the Obama administration will not begin enforcing employer mandates in the Obamacare law until 2015 - one year later than originally planned - and pinned that change of direction on a combination of politics and economic realities in the marketplace.
Mark Mazur, the Assistant Treasury Secretary for Tax Policy, announced on the agency's blog that the administration 'will provide an additional year before the ... mandatory employer and insurer reporting requirements begin.'
The blog post explained that the delay was intended to leave time to simplify reporting requirements and give companies time to adapt.
But the Treasury source said the extra year will give the White House an extra year to persuade health insurers to participate in the exchanges that make up the backbone of the Affordable Care Act.
The revised timetable, the source added, will also push back the final implementation of Obamacare's penalties past the 2014 midterm elections, providing Republicans fewer chances to highlight the law's potentially harmful effects on businesses' bottom lines.

Syrian Christians: 'Why Is America at War with Us'

excerpt
Syrian Christians are asking why the United States supports extremists who want to turn Syria into an Islamic state.
That testimony came during a congressional hearing on Syria's religious minorities Tuesday.
Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., who chairs the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights, called on President Barack Obama to defend the rights of Syrian Christians.
In an opening statement at Tuesday's hearing, Smith said statistics show "that Christians are even more fearful for their lives and safety than other segments of the Syrian population."
Nina Shea, director of the Hudson Institute's Center for Religious Freedom, testified that Islamic insurgents are targeting Christians for "ethno-religious cleansing."
Christian Solidarity International CEO Dr. John Eibner, who also testified at the hearing, said displaced Christians are asking him, "Why is the U.S. at war against us?"

More tyranny in America: judge rules First Amendment has no authority

excerpt

The latest case in point is a California case in which a citizen is being tried in court on charges that state prosecutors say could land him in prison for 13 years. His crime? He engaged in propagating negative messages about the Bank of America.
The Bank of America, it is to be remembered, was one of the large financial institutions that received tax payer funded bailouts in order to stay afloat in 2008-09. According to financial expert and talk radio host Dave Ramsey, Bank of America is one of the most inept and poorly managed banks in the country, along with Morgan Chase, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs.
As an individual citizen who is endowed with the unalienable right of free speech, California resident Jeff Olson began scrawling anti-megabank messages in water soluble chalk on sidewalks last year in San Diego. For this he was charged with vandalism.
But before the trial got underway Judge Howard Shore granted a motion from the state prosecutor that would forbid Olson's attorney from using the Constitutional right of free speech as a defense of his client.
Olson's attorney, thus, is now prevented from using the First Amendment, free speech, free expression, expressive conduct, public forum, or political speech as a defense of his client against the charges brought against him. Olson now must stand trial on 13 counts of vandalism, which, if convicted, could result in a 13 year prison sentence.
