My comment: Is this technology sound and is just being squelched by the petroleum industry and it's accomplices or is it voodoo science?

Heard The Greatest Story Ever Told in Tweeter
If video fails, click here or go to http://divine-ripples.blogspot.com/2011/04/heard-greatest-story-ever-told-tweet.html
Vid descrip: Throughout the course of his public ministry, Jesus knew both the adoration and desertion of the crowds. Today, just as 2,000 years ago, the gospel asks a question that demands an answer: Will we follow? This video illustrates this truth through the dynamic lens of a 21st-century social network.
Commentary: Will you follow then unfollow?

Liturgical Technology - The Chasuble 1.0
From BadVestments
(1) Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for the only chasuble with its own IP address.
(2) You don't put this on this garment, you hack into it.
(3) Most vestments get cleaned. This one gets a new hard drive.
(4) Old concept: liturgical colors. New concept: PC versus Mac.
(5) For the time being, don't run Windows 7 while wearing this or the liturgy will constantly freeze up and you'll have to reboot and start over from the beginning. Microsoft's working on the patch.
(6) This chasuble also serves as a wi/fi hotspot.
(7) If you want to order one, the name of this product is iGarbage.

Recover files just like your first love - a parable
If you internal hard disk goes bad and you had to replace it, know that there is still a way to salvage the files in there. You can get this device that connect to the hard disk and then connect it to your PC using a USB port. This device will have its own power source, so it kind of turns your internal hard into an external one. Chances are you'll read some wierd file names that you want to save somewhere. Then you COPY those files and save it with the extension that you think is appropriate like jpeg if those were pictures. Do NOT RENAME those files so that you always go back to them. Here is the name of that reader. I'm sure their site will provide more instructions on how to recover your files. SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter gives you the flexibilty of connecting almost any type of drive to your computer via USB. The SATA and IDE drives are all supported and can be easily hot-swapped to your system. The included external power adapter will allow you to power your drives outside your system giving you the ability to quickly add or swap between drives without opening your case. My good news is that the files can still be recovered. Hopefully, you did not decide to reformat it when you wanted to recover and reinstall the system files. Reformatting wipes everything clean so if you took that path, then I hope you kissed your files goodbye because they're gone for good.
Now for the parable. The internal hard drive is your life with memories, decisions, ideals and inspirations. Sometimes, these get buried and blurred in the humdrum and grind of daily living. Recovering them is like what the Lord exhorts us to do in Revelation 2:4-5 "But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you, and will remove your lampstand out of its place-unless you repent."
It was said that after ordination, the priest has a godly scent. After a few years, he starts to have an angelic scent. Then, he get the fragrance of saints. Still later, he smells like a man. Until, he sinks into the dung heap of worldly compromise and sin; that's when he reeks.
The same with marriage. "ASAWA" is the Filipino word for spouse. That's how the couple treats and feels about each other at the start. Later, it becomes "SAWA" meaning "tired of it" because the relationship has lost its excitement. Down the road, it turns into "AWA" or pity - the only thing holding the marriage together. Finally, it is "WA" or nothing is enjoyed or shared together.
That is why the Lord calls us to recover our first love. Do you remember your fervor during your perpetual profession, priestly ordination or episcopal consecration. Or if you're married, do you remember what made you love your spouse - that moment when you decided that this person is the one. Try it otherwise you're looking at a slippery slope and the Lord or your spouse doesn't want someone tired, cynical, jaded or lukewarm.
More reflections about restoring one's first love.

Fixing a maintainable laptop. (a parable)
If video fails, go to http://divine-ripples.blogspot.com/2010/10/pick-maintainable-laptop-and-parable.html
Laptops break - particularly the hard drive. When they do, you can either take it to Best Buy and pay $100+ for labor to have it replaced or do it yourself. I was successful with my HP Pavilion but not with my wife's Sony Vaio.
The Vaio is not designed to have the hard drive replaced because, just like a Japanese car the parts are so crammed in and jumpacked that there is little room to move; it is perfectly assembled i.e. if it will not need to be taken apart. Also, it uses this very fine wires on paper-like connectors that require nerves of steel to be surgically reset on their original locations. So, I have shelved that project for months now.
The parable:
The Vaio was not built to have defects; it did not have room for changes. People have a tendency to be that way, to think that they're right and to resist changes. And unless one makes it easy for God to replace defective drives and tendencies, then one remains broken. Unlike the laptop, people can dispose themselves to be open to God's maintenance work by a humbly admitting one's failures and defects. That's the first step in any addiction recovery program i.e. to admit the problem. Only then can one be receptive to correction and be willing to try a new pattern of behavior. That is the meaning of the story of the Pharisee and Publican who went to pray and why the Publican who said, "Forgive me a sinner (and meant it too), went home 'fixed' or justified. The Pharisee who enumerated his virtues and religious practices went home the same. He thought he did not need improvement, so he stayed exactly as he was - without improvement.

The parable of the stuck CD drive and infected computer
There are 2 problems. First, the system got corrupted that it needs to boot using the backup disks and to have a file recopied from there. Second, the CD drive is stuck.
Some CD drives have a hole where you can stick a paper clip tip to push the drive open. You can go to Youtube and see videos about that approach. I had one that did not have a hole. So after a short prayer, I attached an external CD drive, booted (started) and recovered from there. (You won't find that at YouTube; I got that with a little prayer and insight. So, you saw it first here.)
Moral:
Since this is a religious blog, let me use this to talk about Christian life. The corrupted files are our human frailties that have been overrun and controlled by sin. It can manifest itself in destructive behaviors e.g. addictions or habitual sins. The backup disk with the original files is God's grace that contains our chance to be made fixed i.e. freed from addictions and bad habits. The locked CD ROM drive can be our attitudes e.g. It's too late for me. I can never be forgiven. It won't work. I'll fall back into sin. It can be denial i.e. "Problem? I don't have a problem." or false pride. So, it comes down to one's choice to wallow in sin or to rise up and walk. Just like the joke, how many priests does it take to change a light bulb. One but, the light bulb must really want to change.
The external drive are others who help us through their prayers and counsel. Somehow, some people wake up one day and say, "I tired of this life; I'm going to change." That did not come out of the blue but from some grandmother praying the Rosary every night or some nun behind the cloister wall - just like St. Therese of the Child Jesus who prayed for the murderer who was about to be executed. The man repented at the last minute - just in time to receive God's forgiveness before he died.

Microsoft & Apple say no porn on its systems.
Here are edifying news from the industry giants of technology. Who says that private industry is so greedy that it will disregard morality in seach of that almighty buck? However, what happens if someone files a suit though claiming that pornography is part of free speech? Given the ethics and morality shown by our government, I shudder to speculate at what the judgment will be. I mean, if killing babies is a way to reduce the deficit, what's a little flesh on the screen - specially if they can tax it. This government does not uplift the people in my opinion. So, it must be cut down to only what is absolutely necessary. But going back to Bill and Steve, "Kudos."
Excerpts: "Following Apple's lead in trying to keep pornography off its iPad and iPhone products, Microsoft has announced a new set of policies for the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace that will not allow porn or sexually suggestive content, reports Thaddeus M. Baklinski, LifeSiteNews.com.
The application certification requirements for Windows Phone 7 program developers states that Microsoft will no longer allow content such as "Images that are sexually suggestive or provocative, Content that generally falls under the category of pornography, or Content that a reasonable person would consider to be adult or borderline adult content."
In February, Apple began blocking "adult" applications and sexually suggestive screen shots from its online stores in response to "numerous complaints from our customers about this type of content."
In May Apple CEO Steve Jobs said his company would not be a party to the pornography industry and hoped that the iPad and iPhone revolution would help create a porn-free world. Source http://www.christiantelegraph.com/issue10009.html
