3 Videos: Israel vs. Muslim Jihadists in Flotilla

From J. E. DYER - 05.31.2010 - 4:27 PM
Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has a very good summary of points about the Hamas-backed attempt to break the maritime blockade of Gaza on May 31. The summary includes links on the Turkish “aid” group, Insani Yardim Vakfi (IHH), and its associations with the Muslim Brotherhood and all the usual suspects of Islamist terror (including the Millennium bombing plot in 1999). There is convincing video footage of the fight mounted by the peace activists – using knives, metal pipe, handguns, stun grenades, and incendiary devices – against the Israeli commandos boarding M/V Mavi Marmara, the Turkish ferry used as the flotilla’s flagship. Probably the best compliment I can give Ed’s post is that it doesn’t adopt the credulous, pro-activist editorial perspective of virtually all the mainstream media outlets.

There is good reason not to. For one thing, the fingerprints of Hamas are all over this blockade-running attempt. IHH, a key organizer of the flotilla, has longstanding ties to Hamas that include establishing an IHH office in Gaza and setting up celebrated meetings between its leader, Bulent Yildirim, and Hamas leaders Khaled Meshal and Ismail Haniyeh. Moreover, British participation in the flotilla was organized by British Hamas leader Mohammed Sawalha, among other Hamas links to the European flotilla participants ."

The videos speak for themselves.

Video Description:
Video taken by IDF naval boat shows the passengers of the Mavi Marmara, one of the ships in the 'Free Gaza' Flotilla, violently attacking IDF soldiers who were trying to board the ship after having sent repeated requests for the boat to change course.

Large groups of passengers surrounded soldiers and beat them with metal poles and chairs, and threw one soldier over the side of the ship. Some passengers grabbed pistols from the IDF soldiers and opened fire. As a result of the attacks, seven IDF soldiers were injured, and nine of the passengers were killed.

The 'Free Gaza' Flotilla had publicly insisted on their non-violent intentions, however their violent attack on the IDF soldiers was clearly premeditated. They had knives, metal rods, firebombs and other items ready to use.

Gaza flotilla participants chanted Islamic battle cry invoking killing of Jews.
The name Khaibar mentioned in battle cry was the last Jewish village defeated by Muhammad's army in 628. The battle marked the end of Jewish presence in Arabia.
There are Muslims who see that as a precursor for future wars against Jews. At gatherings and rallies of extremists, this chant is often heard as a threat to Jews to expect to be defeated and killed again by Muslims.

St. John Bosco's Goodnight Talk

St. John Bosco housed homeless boys. Before going to bed, he gave them a "goodnight talk" right after night prayers.  This drew from an event during the day and concluded with a moral lesson. It is short and entertaining - drawing from the lives of the saints or from his visions.  After that, there is the "great silence" as the boys keep a prayerful ambiance of recollection.

I do the same with my kids ages 10,8,7 & 2.  We say our night prayers together consisting of an Our Father, Hail Mary & Glory Be following by an examination of conscience then an Act of Contrition.  After that, I give the talk.  I used Aesop's fables e.g. the ant and the grasshopper, Gospel stories e.g. the man who built his house on rock and the other on sand, events e.g. the dog getting groomed and then draw a simple moral lesson.  This allows me to explain to the kids the rationale for my policies and help them understand our sacrifices for them.  (As St. John Bosco taught, "It is not enough to love the young.  They must know that they are loved.)  More importantly, they learn how to put faith into action or live as a follower of Jesus.

By and large, this works as the kids remember the lessons, the rules and the love.

Stimulus Surprise: Companies Retrench When Government Spends

The results of a new study by Harvard Business School will certainly shock some Keynesian academics — and high-ranking government officials. Instead of providing a stimulating effect to the economy, government spending creates pressures on private industry to reduce staff and investment.

The article starts out:  "Recent research at Harvard Business School began with the premise that as a state's congressional delegation grew in stature and power in Washington, D.C., local businesses would benefit from the increased federal spending sure to come their way.  It turned out quite the opposite. In fact, professors Lauren Cohen, Joshua Coval, and Christopher Malloy discovered to their surprise that companies experienced lower sales and retrenched by cutting payroll, R&D, and other expenses. Indeed, in the years that followed a congressman's ascendancy to the chairmanship of a powerful committee, the average firm in his state cut back capital expenditures by roughly 15 percent, according to their working paper, "Do Powerful Politicians Cause Corporate Downsizing?"  More at  Cfr. http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/6420.html

Licensing: Another Way to Gag Patriotic Bloggers.

Senator Bruce Patterson says that the general public is being overwhelmed by an increasing number of media outlets--traditional, online and citizen generated--and an even greater amount misinformation.  To this end, he is introducing legislation that will regulate reporters much like the state does with hairdressers, auto mechanics and plumbers

The bill requires that must provide the licensing board proof of:
--"Good moral character” and demonstrate they have industry “ethics standards acceptable to the board.”
--Possession of a degree in journalism or other degree substantially equivalent.
--Not less than 3 years experience as a reporter or any other relevant background information.
--Awards or recognition related to being a reporter.
--Three or more writing samples.
Reporters will also have to pay an application and registration fee.," reported FoxNews.com Friday.  http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/28/michigan-considers-law-license-journalists/

Sin or Bankruptcy/Jail - Cath. Hospitals must choose.

Last year, the bishops threatened to close Catholic hospitals if FOCA was ever legislated. Now with Obamacare, they may have to push through with the threat unless that law gets repealed or amended to allow conscientious objections. Then again, even without Obamacare the Catholic hospitals will still be in a dilemma of choosing between sin or jail as shown in the case of Sister McBride. See Wiki page below for details. Her situation is not a case of double effect but an abortion. Since the fetus is a person with rights, the Church condemns its murder even to save the mother.

US Law however sees it differently. If the hospital did not abort and the mother died, then the hospital could be liable for not providing a reasonable "standard of care". So, the hospital either sins or risks fines and jail time.

So, even without abortion on demand from Obamacare, the Church faces this issue now albeit rarely. The nun chose to allow the abortion thus incurring an automatic excommunication as provisioned in canon law. Had she chosen otherwise, then the hospital might have been sued and forced to shut down. Probably, the nun selected what she thought was the lesser evil. Although I beg to differ because, what is worse than offending God with sin?

While medical ministry is still valid, cases like this offend God or waste the resources of the faith community. So, in my opinion, unless the laws here change then it is best to continue this ministry elsewhere. Perhaps, it is a call to relocate these facilities and professionals in areas whose people are not covered by Obamacare.

Video: Mohammedans shed false notion of Jesus

Muslims think they're better than Christians because they believe they have the greatest and last prophet, Mohammed teach them about God. Their understanding of Jesus comes from their view that Jesus was a great moral teacher or a minor prophet. If they want to know who Jesus is, they need to go beyond their own narrative and be pleasantly surprised. After that, they may need to run for their lives from Islam. But at least they will find the truth and the life.

Muslim clerics in the Middle East and North Africa are leaving Islam for Christianity, according to Father Zakaria Boutros.
Father Zakaria is an Egyptian Coptic priest who was kicked out of his country for converting Muslims to Christ. Today he has a ministry to the Muslim world through his satellite TV broadcast, 'Truth Talk.'
Broadcast daily into the Middle East, the program challenges Muslims to examine their faith and encourages them to discuss issues in an Internet chat room on Pal Talk.

According to Al-Jazeerah's interview with Sheikh Ahmad Al Katani, the president of The Companions Lighthouse for the Science of Islamic Law in Libya, In every hour, 667 Muslims convert to Christianity.
Everyday, 16,000 Muslims convert to Christianity. Every year, 6 million Muslims convert to Christianity.

In his famous book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis makes this statement, "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg--or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us."

Music video: Jeannie's Afraid Of The Dark (+ Christian reflections)

Do you have kids who's afraid of the dark?  Here's an interesting take on why that may be so.  The eternal flame reminds me of the many times the Lord Jesus compared Himself to Light.  See below.

If the video fails, click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VY8O5ErJpng

"John presents man as either belonging to one of two things: the darkness or the light. There is no in between. The darkness is associated with death, while the light is associated with life. This theme is developed throughout the Gospel. In 1:4-9, John portrays Jesus as being the light of men and demonstrates that the darkness does not understand the light. John the Baptist came to bear witness of the light in order that men would believe through him. In the third chapter (19-21) Jesus states that the light has come into the world, but men have loved the darkness instead of the light because their works were evil. Evildoers hate the light and are afraid to go into the light lest their works be exposed. On the other hand, the ones who practice the truth come into the light so that it can be seen that their works were done through God. In 5:35 there is reference to John the Baptist as being a lamp that gives forth light. Jesus is also referred to as the Light of the World (8:12; 9:5) whereas the devil is called the "prince of this world" (12:31; 14:30; 16:11). In 12:35-36 Jesus tells the crowd that it is necessary to walk in the light because the person that walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. He also tells the crowd to believe in the Light in order to become sons of the light. Lastly in 12:46, he states that he has come as light into the world so that those who believe in him will not remain in darkness." from http://www.blueletterbible.org/study/intros/john.cfm

Now Muslims want to build a mosque just two blocks from where the World Trade Center once stood. When's the grand opening of this Ground Zero mosque? September 11, 2011. This is unacceptable. If the states can legislate that one does not have to buy insurance under Obamacare, can it also legislate the same about federal taxes?  The case being made here is that the Constitution does not support that type of taxation.  No wonder this clip got 3 million views.  But what if it were true?  Is seems impractical to enforce but that is not a justification to perpetuate an unlawful practice.

AZ immigration law. Views, context & text.

I support legal immigration.  My dad came on a job visa, became a resident alien and finally got us through the process.  It took many years as we waited for approvals.  He sacrificed being away from us to give us a better life and future.  Coming from a poor country, I understand why others would take their chances to sneak in here illegally.  Seeing the video below makes me understand why the citizens of this country would want the immigration laws to be enforced.

With regards to the Arizona law, I would be remiss if I did not post the bishops' comments.  Then again, those were for an earlier draft.  So, I posted the revised law as well.  I wonder if the bishops would revise their appraisal.

"WASHINGTON— In solidarity with the Catholic bishops of Arizona, Bishop John C. Wester of Salt Lake City, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Migration, issued a statement April 27, opposing the enactment and implementation of Arizona SB 1070, which criminalizes undocumented immigrants. “This new law, although limited to the State of Arizona, could have impact throughout the nation, in terms of how members of our immigrant communities are both perceived and treated,” Bishop Wester said in the statement. “SB 1070 gives law enforcement officials powers to detain and arrest individuals based on a very low legal standard, possibly leading to the profiling of individuals based upon their appearance, manner of speaking, or ethnicity.” More at: http://www.usccb.org/comm/archives/2010/10-080.shtml

'Pastoral' - not where men are men and the sheep are nervous.

There's a state where men are men and the sheep are nervous.  But we'll leave that to show that anyone with a staff can be a shepherd.  To lead people, one needs to be a good shepherd like Jesus who would search for the lost sheep then carry it on his shoulders when it's too tired to walk back.

Tax collectors and whores were like lost sheep and Jesus went after them. He drank with Matthew and allowed Mary to touch him by letting her wipe his feet with her hair. But after that, he asked them to change, “Follow me.  Sin no more.”  He didn't stop at the drinking and touching.  This is his way of shepherding  – his pastoral method. And while the first part is easy, popular and politically savvy, the follow through is the one that saves.

Some church leaders today get stuck in the first step – seeing, hearing and doing no evil.  But they conveniently justify their inaction as being pastoral to the detriment of the sinner and those affected by his actions. Consider the 60 million children in the US who were brutally slaughtered in their mothers' wombs because, the supporters and legislators of abortion laws are permitted by their pastors to receive Holy Communion.
If these pols are ignorant about their responsibilities to defend life, how pastoral is it to tacitly look the other way?  If these pols knew the errors of their ways, how pastoral is it to simply let them be?  Either way is to grease the slippery slope to eternal perdition. And with the condemned will be their pastors who were too distracted to notice, too preoccupied to understand,  too lazy to correct, too timid to confront or too scared to discipline.

The pastoral way of the Incarnate God is loving because it is real; and to be real is to be truthful. It does not call evil - good and good - evil.  To be loving without upholding the truth is to be like a dotting parent who spoils the child into a brat. Yet, it proclaims the truth in love.  To uphold the truth without love is to forget that the law was for man and not man for the law.

Music Video: Daddy's Hands

Even if our daughters don't respond to our parenting, we must never give up or get bitter.  We plant the seed of counsel and discipline now and leave it to the good Lord to let it blossom in His time.  Always bear in mind the good word that St. Paul has written in his first letter to the Corinthians chap. 13.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails."

Congress attempts to gag bloggers with a sneaky provision in DISCLOSE Act.

"Last week, a congressional hearing exposed an effort to give another agency—the Federal Election Commission—unprecedented power to regulate political speech online. At a House Administration Committee hearing last Tuesday, Patton Boggs attorney William McGinley explained that the sloppy statutory language in the “DISCLOSE Act” would extend the FEC’s control over broadcast communications to all “covered communications,” including the blogosphere.  ...  The bill, however, would radically redefine how the FEC regulates political commentary. A section of the DISCLOSE Act would exempt traditional media outlets from coordination regulations, but the exemption does not include bloggers, only “a communication appearing in a news story, commentary, or editorial distributed through the facilities of any broadcasting station, newspaper, magazine or other periodical publication…”  More here.  (1)

In other words, they will leave the MSM a.k.a. government propaganda outlets with some lattitude but be able to control or intimidate with legal action the alternative media.

As Ed Morrisey pointed out, "If the Democrats in Congress wanted to ensure that the FEC would not investigate political speech by bloggers, they would have written their exemptions to include bloggers instead of just traditional media outlets. The purposeful lack of exemption for bloggers looks ominous indeed — and could be used to harass smaller, unfunded bloggers out of the realm of political debate." More here.  (2)

The bullying never stops.  But it can be understood.  You can take the man out of Chicago but you cannot take Chicago out of the man.  The question is, "Can we stop them in time?"

Another excommunication implemented

I welcome the honest and consistent implementation of Church discipline by the bishop in Chicago. What I notice with the recent excommunications or recognition thereof is that they’re done on small fishes. I have not heard of disciplinary actions taken against the rich and powerful.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but pro-abortion politicians are not allowed to receive Holy Communion.  How is it that I don't see that restriction applied to Catholics in Congress?  And the late Ted Kennedy who supported abortion all his life, still had a Requiem Mass with Card. Sean O’Malley himself when he died.  And during his life, he was allowed to receive communion prior to the annulment of his marriage in addition to his pro-abortion legislative activities?

Excerpt of news report from  http://www.wbez.org/Content.aspx?audioID=42053

A woman who challenged a Catholic ordination ban has died. The Catholic church will not allow her to be buried at a Catholic parish.  Janine Denomme was ordained a priest in April by a group called Roman Catholic Womenpriests. She had been battling cancer and yesterday she died in her Edgewater home.

The Catholic church never recognized Denomme's ordination. The Archdiocese of Chicago says Denomme automatically separated herself from the Church when she participated in "the simulation of the sacrament of Holy Orders." The diocese says she knowingly and willingly participated in the simulation and brought excommunication upon herself. And because of that Denomme is denied a Catholic funeral. The Archdiocese says Denomme would only be allowed a Church burial if she gave "some sign of repentance before death."

Understanding the Vow of Chastity. It's a Spiritual Romance.

Source  Nuns during their perpetual religious vows details

We're created for the love of God.  Some can do it directly - like these nuns.  Others like myself did not receive that special gift of celibate love.  I do it indirectly through married love.  The first one is like going up on a helicopter;  the latter on the stairway.  The spiritual love is obviously better but it does have it's challenges.  For women, the loss of fecundity is the greatest temptation.  For men, I guess it would be the inability to pass the family jewels into the next generation to somehow perpetuate oneself through a child.  On the other hand, the rewards are awesome.  One can focus on loving God and serving His Church in total freedom.  One can fight fearlessly for the sake of God, justice or human dignity without any worry that one's child or spouse could be punished as a reprisal.  But the biggest plus is that one can love the heavenly Father in the very same way as His only begotten Son.  Celibate love enables one to love with that pure, total and complete self-giving of the Lord Jesus.  So, one can follow, imitate and be united with the Incarnate God in the most intimate way.  ( Who knows dear reader, the Lord might bless you with it - if you ask. )

AZ again. Most pro-life legislative session in history!

Excerpts:
"With the legislature approving several pro-life bills and Brewer signing them, the state is posed to see a reduction in the number of abortions....

Arizona led the nation by becoming the first state in the country to opt out of providing abortion coverage in any insurance exchanges offered under the new federal health care law.

Arizona taxpayer dollars will no longer provide elective abortion insurance coverage for any government employees.

Arizonans now will know the facts about abortion in the state as abortion practitioners will be required by law to report data about abortion, including physical harm to women.

Arizona leads the nation in enacting common-sense, ethical regulations for protecting the dignity of human life that do not interfere with legitimate bio-tech research.

The new laws include provisions that: require informed consent before a woman donates or sells her eggs to clinics, prohibit the sale of human eggs for research purposes and prohibit the sale of human embryos for any purpose, and prohibit human cloning, embryonic stem cell research, and the creation of human-animal hybrids. "What neither G.M. nor the Treasury disclosed was that the company simply used other funds held by Treasury to pay off its original loan."  (New York Times. May 2, 2010)

But watch the video to see how the media lapdogs swoon over the hype and how GM brazenly misleads the public.

Dems. Only Winning Tactic Being Done in Michigan

The only way for Democrats to win is to cheat.  So, they've started by putting up a fake Tea Party to become an official third party in Michigan.  This is what they do because this is who they are.  The opposition needs to be vigilant to fight them every step of the way - from perception management, voter intimidation to outright fraud.

Details at http://theblogprof.blogspot.com/2010/05/breaking-fake-tea-party-run-by.html  Here's an excerpt.
This isn't even AstroTurf. It is outright political fraud. Fearful of the tea party movement in Michigan (which Democrats and Republicans alike should be), the Democrats and/or their special interest groups have begun the process of officially hijacking the movement. Like in Nevada, they will likely launch their own 'tea party' candidate that is anything but. Unfortunately for the Democrats, 1) the tea party is more informed than they give us credit for; and 2) this news is breaking at the very conception of this slimy political move. The news was broken last night by Chetley Zarko on his website Outside Lansing: Zarko Research Exclusive: Dem Dirty Trick on Fake Tea Party Petition Revealed

Video: country bumpkin ad epitomizes political sentiment

This country bumpkin ad for a local office in Alabama, epitomizes the sweeping sentitment that will overhaul the American political landscape this year.  It's going viral because, it is suggestive of the preference to what is traditionally American - God and country, the flag, mom and apple pie.  Without mentioning  Eurotrash Socialism, Muslim Radicalism and pro-abortion legalism, it implies opposition to all that.  "We're better than that", he says.

At the risk of sounding simplistic and idealistic, I believe that this election will be a battle of integrity vs. corruption, self-sufficiency vs. dependence, faith vs. atheism, pro-life vs. abortion, marriage and family vs. "alternative life-styles" and self-determination vs. government control.  (And guns are good too.  It keeps the vermin away from the livestock and makes hunting deer easier.)  And this guy personifies all those good old-fashioned values shunned by the Democrats.

Video: Institutionalized Child Abuse in Islamic Country

St. John Bosco warned candidates to his religious order that boys are like women,  "Puer sicut mulier."  That is why he was quite intransigent with excluding candidates that are unsure of being chaste and pure around boys because, "They will be in grave danger."  Recently, there were articles  linking homosexuality and child sexual abuse; however, I doubt whether that is always the case.  It is also possible that heterosexuals would have this preference as shown by this age old traditional practice in this Islamic country.

Video: Maher's Liberal Atheism applies to anything really. Needs dictionary.

An old proverb teaches:

He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool; avoid him.
He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a student; teach him.
He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep; wake him.
He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man; follow him.
I think the first case applies to Bill Maher but in a morbid case because he is convinced that he knows and really pushes his ignorance to new lows in complete oblivion and haughtiness
See  http://www.mediaite.com/tv/bill-maher-round-table-discusses-the-dangers-of-religion/

The center question of the conversation, with Maher defining it, was whether non-atheists were delusional– a topic that came up after Cupp admitted that she suspected President Barack Obamawas an atheist, too. Maher argued that religion was the cause of “all wars,” in which he included communism, “a state religion.” Avlon offered that the term “religion” for what Maher was attacking was wrong– it was “absolutism, ideology, and extremism” that were behind the forces Maher was citing. Booker took it a step further, telling Maher “in your atheism, you are just as dogmatic and intolerant as any preacher.”
After an extensive back-and-forth in which Maher declared himself the only person on TV attacking religion and Cupp gave him several examples of liberal figures opposing religious practices, Maher kept it topical by asking everyone, “let’s move on to Stephen Baldwin.”

Nun Excommunicated for Abortion Decision in AZ

Source:  http://the-american-catholic.com/2010/05/15/nun-automatically-excommunicated-for-approving-abortion/
Bishop Thomas Olmstead of the Diocese of Phoenix has confirmed that Sister Margaret McBride of Phoenix’ Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center had incurred an automatic excommunication or latae sententiae excommunication.  What this means is as soon as the offense is committed Sister McBride was automatically excommunicated by her own actions[1].
Sister Margaret McBride made the decision to kill a critically ill mother’s innocent unborn child because there was a high risk of the mother not surviving the innocent child’s birth.  In essence Sister McBride allowed for an abortion.

Video: Alarming. Obama's Islamic Ties Explains A Lot.

I understand now why there is hesitation to identify the terrorists as Muslims.  Their supporter goes all the way to the top.

Israel is in a bad place until 2012.  I just hope her enemies won't take advantage of the situation.

Also, I hope he does not push to build that mosque "trophy" at Ground Zero.

Everything changes because of this - even the Constitution that was influenced by Christianity.  Not the change that many wanted, I'm sure.

US is Pro-life! (GOP must stay put. DNC should reconsider.)

Yesterday, I heard that the GOP was taling to the pro-choice crowd and that distressed me because, one cannot compromise on the right to life.  I didn't know what made Michael Steele think that he needs to accommodate that crowd because, acc. to the Gallup poll, the majority of the US population is pro-life.

The conservative shift in Americans’ views on abortion that Gallup first recorded a year ago has carried over into 2010. Slightly more Americans call themselves “pro-life” than “pro-choice,” 47% vs. 45%, according to a May 3-6 Gallup poll. This is nearly identical to the 47% to 46% division found last July following a more strongly pro-life advantage of 51% to 42% last May.

While the two-percentage-point gap in current abortion views is not significant, it represents the third consecutive time Gallup has found more Americans taking the pro-life than pro-choice position on this measure since May 2009, suggesting a real change in public opinion. By contrast, in nearly all readings on this question since 1995, and each survey from 2003 to 2008, more Americans called themselves pro-choice than pro-life.

(Source: http://www.gallup.com/poll/128036/New-Normal-Abortion-Americans-Pro-Life.aspx)

Perhaps the Democrats can use this to their advantage and kick out their pro-choice base in exchange for pro-lifers.  It's something to think about considering the general values and attitudes of pro-lifers are akin to many of the Democrats alleged positions except for that one issue - abortion support.

Either Card. Chaput or O'Malley is Dead Wrong. (And Card. Mahoney ...)

On the issue of admitting a child from a same sex couple to Catholic school, one cardinal is definitely wrong.  I can say that with certainty because Card. O'Malley and Chaput took mutually exclusive positions so, one of them must be right and the other wrong - by definition with everything else being the same.

Card. O'Malley allowed the child to enroll in a Catholic school in his archdiocese;  Card. Chaput supported the decision to exclude a child under the same circumstance from his.

Acc. to Card. Chaput:  "Many of our schools also accept students of other faiths and no faith, and from single parent and divorced parent families. These students are always welcome so long as their parents support the Catholic mission of the school and do not offer a serious counter-witness to that mission in their actions."

I really don't know what Card. O'Malley was thinking.  I am with Card. Chaput on this one.

Read more at:  http://www.spiritual-politics.org/2010/05/omalley_v_chaput.html

The implications of this is that cardinals and bishops are not always right.  There is only one bishop with the charism of infallibility and that is when teaching matters of faith and morals under strictly specified conditions.  So, Card. Roger Mahoney in his opposition to the Arizona legislation may well be wrong too.

Video: What the Seminaries Skipped About Islam is Lethal

Islam was touched during the theology of the Church, Ecclesiology.  It used Lumen Gentium as a reference that dwelt glowingly about the Abrahamic faith and other items that we have in common with Moslems.  And when I studied and worked with Moslems in the States, I found them to be rational and peaceful.  So, I kept this vision about their religion and dismissed the terrorists as fanatics who misunderstood their religion.  When I asked about jihad, I was told that it is an internal spiritual war with our sinfulness.  But the more I get exposed to the unsavory facets of their faith, the more the doubt whether the Moslems whom I know are aware of the extreme teachings but chose to live peacefully because, they think for themselves and follow their common sense.

But it won't help if I continue to ignore and smooth over truths about Islam that are problematic.  So, I post this video that claims, with references, a less popular view of the theo-political nature of this belief system.  And the point made is that, unless this is understood and accepted or considered, then the problem with the Islamic conflict will never be addressed correctly.

Pelosi Tries to Turn Clergy into Useful Idiots

She’s done it again, this time with the bishops -lecturing them to get their flock to support legislation. Last week, she tried to address the priests. So, what's with her?

In my opinion, she’s turning them into useful idiots and  posturing for November. If she can get the bishops to collaborate or even respond, she will appear that she or her party, is in speaking terms with the Church and enlist them into promoting their agenda.  And appearances are everything. If you recall, the Pope did not want to have any appearance with her to the point that they was no photo op during her visit.

Now, she’s grabbing this opportunity to rally the Church in pursuing immigration reform. I wonder if she thinks the Church has forgotten about her role in forcing Obamacare that will lead to millions of abortions and how she ignored her bishop’s counsel and admonitions ?
She hasn’t but she thinks that the Church will fall for her shenanigans. Already, her video clips are being circulating in the ether albeit in a negative light. I won’t attach any of them here. But I noted this to highlight the power of the Catholic vote. And consequently, the grave duty of the leaders to educate and guide the believers about the immorality of supporting pro-abortion politicians like many in the Democratic party.

Hopefully people don't give this new round of posturing any attention. She’ll be lucky if she gets a response like, “Tie a millstone around your neck and drown yourself.” (Mk 9:42)  That as you can see, is an apprioriate Biblical counsel given her legislative activities.

Video: Some US Moslems for Another Holocaust

My exposure to Islam as a graduate student of theology gave me a benign and even holy outlook of them.  As I got immersed in blogging, I become exposed to disturbing perspectives that made me question my basic view of this religion.  Now I understand it as having various interpretations just like Christianity and Judaism would have their Orthodox and Reformed denominations.  Hence, Islam to me has a peaceful group and a rabid group that will support another genocide without hesitation.  Although, I suspect that all of Islam has that world view of a warfare against evil - not just personal sins but institutional evil comprised of  the Westerm powers and Israel.  Here is an excellent article about the danger in ignoring that.  http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/rubin/293706

Porn, S&M, KamaSutra, erogenous zones & more in a Christian Marriage

At a men's retreat, someone brought out a point that will clarify a misconception about chastity in married life. This guy thought that just because he's married then he can do a lot of sexual stuff as long as he does not commit adultery and that there is no contraception involved.

First of all, my insights are general concepts and principles. For spiritual guidance, one needs a director - preferably ordained. What I'll state will not be enough but, it is a start.

Let's step back and establish some rules about judging immoral actions. There are 3 components: the action itself, the intention and the circumstances. The first 2 are self-explanatory. Some actions are evil by itself e.g. abortion or indifferent e.g. drinking water. Intention is why the action was done. And circumstances mean knowledge and freedom. Knowing that something is bad and still doing it is worse than being ignorant. And doing something deliberately makes it worse than being forced into it.

Let’s apply these to the case of watching porn to prepare for intercourse. The act by itself is immoral because, it dehumanizes women and supports that industry. The circumstances point to defective knowledge. He didn't know but can he be excused? No, it is clearly taught in the Catechism. Let’s assume that he is not addicted, so the act is deliberate. Finally, the intention - to start the marital act is good. But as you can see, determining culpability or sin or the gravity thereof is not that cut and dried.  (That is why the Lord ordered us not to condemn.  And that is why he forgave the Jews; because, they didn't know.)

But before going down to specific acts, we need to step back even farther to frame a moral life. There are 2 schools of thought: the navigation system model and the boundaries.

The first is like having a TomTom or Jiminy Cricket in your head saying, "Turn right or go ahead." So every step involves discerning God’s will. I think that is reserved for big decisions e.g. picking a career but not with what to do at bed.

The borders approach consist of having defined bounds and not crossing those lines. Anything within is fair. One can be spontaneous without analyzing every step. This is where the guy came from and he would have been right had he not missed one of the bounds.

That said, is it alright to learn about sexual pleasure e.g. erogenous zones? Absolutely, but not with porn; because, the end does not justify the means. Or a good result cannot be achieved using immoral ways.

What about foreplay? Definitely. In fact women need remote preparation. So, you can plant some thoughts in the morning then follow up with a phone call at noon. It is not sensitive to just jump her when you feel like it. She has to be ready too and it takes her more time to be in the mood.

How about playfulness and games? That’s foreplay too. It shows appreciation to your mate as a person instead of a bodily cavity.

How about props and positions? I'd think the rules to consider would be consent and dignity. Lubricants, scents, feathers, beads, ice-cubes, tapioca pudding and the entire Kama sutra is fair game. I have issues with SM and bondage - even if someone's wife likes it because, it degrades the other. Those issues may need to be referred to a mental professional.

And there are Church teachings about this – in general. See references below. I distinctly remember a passage stating that it is not enough for the man to be satisfied; he must ensure that the wife is also "fulfilled". At first, I felt a bit scandalized that clerics would talk about these but, with the new approach to sexuality, I even got to this point of writing details. I certainly hope I did not shock anyone. My goal was to make clear what is sinful so, God won’t be offended. And also, to state that while sex is not the end all and be all of married life, it does not have to be the missionary position all the time.

Mental Reservation of Sr. Carol Keehan. It's like a lie.

Sr. Carol Keehan declares, "We were in complete accord with our bishops and our church that abortion is a grave evil. There is no justification for abortion, and we would not ever have supported this bill if we thought it funded abortion." at a gathering of Catholics supporting Obama.

This comment is a gross misrepresentation of her support for the Health Care Bill or a very carefully worded message to state her decision to disobey the bishops on this matter.  Despite the bishops' admonition, she relied on her "thoughts" and deemed the bishops wrong.

Archbishop Joseph Naumann's published response to Sister Keehan's denial of abortion funding in the bill: "I find this statement by Sister Keehan either incredibly naïve or disingenuous. Either the bill permits previously prohibited government funding of abortion or not. This is not a technicality."

To show who is right, read http://www.detnews.com/article/20100427/OPINION03/4270348/1022/Health-law--economy-shape-family-planning#ixzz0mPd6OAoH

Excerpt:  "An early sign of health care reform's impact is Planned Parenthood's decision to open a new Oakland County clinic within the next 18 months, adding to 15 locations, including Detroit, Warren and Livonia. Unlike other Detroit area centers, the new location is likely to include abortion services.

[Planned Parenthood President Cecile] Richards and Lori Lamerand, executive director of Planned Parenthood of Mid and South Michigan, are ramping up for a boom in birth control and other reproductive services -- what Lamerand calls "an onslaught" of women poised to gain new access to reproductive health care."

We can speculate on the nun's motives with her false statement.  Is it to give the impression that Catholics can support Obama and the Democrats?  Probably.  But whatever it is, there was no confusion about the direction given by the bishops back then.  And she chose to ignore their guidance to the peril and death of many more unborn children.

2 Corinthians 11:14 "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light."

More buzz re: 401K Gov't takeover

With the collapse of the pension funds of SEIU, there is great pressure for a bailout.  And since the government cannot just print more money as the legislators are pushing back hard on that idea, then there's a need to find it elsewhere.  We've seen the recent SEIU organized protests to raise taxes.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlSA9iMgO-0

But that's not happening until next year.  Since as they say in the video, "They need cash fast.", then here's another place to get it.

Excerpt:  "...the federal government is desperate for cash, and the biggest untapped source of wealth is the hundreds of billions or trillions of dollars that Americans who are now nearing retirement age have saved over their lifetimes. I don't doubt for an instant that the Obama administration would like to get its hands on this money, which would go a long way toward resolving the current government debt crisis. An obvious way of doing so is to take the money now, in exchange for a promise to pay an "annuity" later. The bottom line is that, given what we know about the Obama administration's rapacious appetite for swallowing up private wealth, anyone who has savings should be vigilant."   More at:  http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2010/05/026260.php

3 million internet votes for Democrats. Can you say voter fraud?

3 million overseas and military voters will be able to cast ballots on Internet this fall

By The New York Times

May 08, 2010, 6:12PM
By Ian Urbina

WASHINGTON -- Nearly 3 million overseas and military voters from at least 33 states will be permitted to cast ballots over the Internet in November using e-mail or fax, in part because of new regulations proposed last month by the federal agency that oversees voting.
The move comes as state and federal election officials are trying to find faster ways to handle the ballots of these voters, which often go uncounted in elections because of distance and unreliable mail service.
:

Cybersecurity experts, election officials and voting-integrity advocates, however, have raised concerns about the plan. They point out that e-mail messages can be intercepted, that voting websites can be hacked or taken down by malicious attacks, and that the secrecy of ballots is hard to ensure once they are sent over the Web.
