Video: love from God shines in Rebecca St. James as she sings "Jesus, King of my heart."

The pure and vibrant love from God shines in Rebecca St. James as she sings, "Jesus, King of my heart."  This is the peace that the world cannot give, the liberation that goes to the soul.

Jesus, King of my heart
Father, my peace and my light
Spirit, the joy of my soul You are

Jesus, to you none compare
Father, I rest in Your care
Spirit, the hope of my heart You are

CHORUS:
The heavens declare You are God
And the mountains rejoice
The oceans cry Alleluia
As we worship You Lord
For this is our Song of Love

Jesus, You save my soul
I'll thank You forevermore
Jesus, the love of my life You are

CHORUS

Jesus, I am in awe
Of the love that You have shown
Jesus, how precious You are to me

Blog: NY Chutzpah. NJ Turnpike. Buffalo Priests, JOY.

NJ Turnpike:
As I drove down the NJ Turnpike from Manhattan, I prayed the Rosary with my wife and 10, 7, 6 & 2 year old kids.  No one complained. Their praying voices were just music to my ears.  It was one of my greatest blessings and I thank God.

NY Chutzpah:
They were charging $60 for parking near the convention center. I drove a few blocks away and found this place where they stacked 4 cars using hydraulics. That place charged $20.

The Blues & JOY:
A friend posted in FB that she is down.  So I hope this helps:  http://www.quotegarden.com/happiness.html
I get the blues myself and those remind me of what St. Augustine said:  "Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee O My God."  And what JOY means i.e. J is Jesus 1st, O is others 2nd & Y is yourself last.

Buffalo priests:  cf. http://clericalwhispers.blogspot.com/
The Irish child abuse scandal has grown to a point that perhaps the only way to save the good clerics is to extract them there and replace them with "Buffalo priests" from Africa, Latin America and Asia.  Otherwise, there's a whole lot of ugly that can blow up anytime and that can result in the loss of faith or of lives. ( similar to the Buffalo soldiers at WWII)

Video: Not to render to Ceasar what is God's! Manhattan Declaration.

Mike Huckabee talks to Chuck Colson about the Manhattan Declaration, which is an official document composed by a group of 150 Christain leaders that are uniting against causes such as abortion, gay marriage and others.  These men of God will not be forced to cooperate with the sinful structures that the Obama administration and the current legislature are promoting.  Like MLK or Mahatma Gandhi, these leaders have the courage of their convictions to face the consequences of standing up to immorality, debauchery, depravity and evil that is corrupting the American soul and compromising its culture.  As the pilgrims have sought a new land where they can worship God freely, these men are taking back that land that is slowly falling into the clutches of evil.  These men are now being joined by hundreds of thousands of believers who are ready to engage in forms of civil disobedience and go to jail than to support and finance all forms of immorality.  Whether it is withholding taxes or engaging in massive demonstrations, the people of God are now set to stop America from being dragged into the depths of godlessness.  To join this historic stand for God and country, one can follow the link above to the Manhattan Declaration.

Blog: Abps. Tobin, Wuerl, Dolan, Burke lead the Church Against Gov't Sponsored Depravity & Debauchary

Mr. Buchanan combines the recent actions of American bishops as they protect the human community from the onslaught of various government sponsored programs and policies.

With the House debate on health care at its hottest, the U.S. Catholic bishops issued a stunning ultimatum: Impose an absolute ban on tax funds for abortions, or we call for defeat of the Pelosi bill.

Message received. The Stupak Amendment, named for Bart Stupak of Michigan, was promptly passed, to the delight of pro-life Catholics and the astonished outrage of pro-abortion Democrats.

No member was more upset than Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island, son of Edward Kennedy, who proceeded to bash the Church for imperiling the greatest advance for human rights in a generation.

As Rhode Island is our most Catholic state, Kennedy went silent and got this parting shot from Tobin: "Your position is unacceptable to the Church and scandalous to many of our members. It absolutely diminishes your communion with the Church."

The clash was naturally national news. But Tobin's public chastisement of a Catholic who carries the most famous name in U.S. and Catholic politics is made more significant because it seems to reflect a new militancy in the hierarchy that has been absent for decades

Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C., just informed the city council that, rather than recognize homosexual marriages and provide gays the rights and benefits of married couples, he will shut down all Catholic social institutions and let the city take them over. Civil disobedience may be in order here.

Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York sent an op-ed to The New York Times charging the paper with anti-Catholic bigotry and using a moral double standard when judging the Church.

Dolan singled out a "scurrilous ... diatribe" by Maureen Dowd "that rightly never would have passed muster with the editors had it so criticized an Islamic, Jewish or African-American" faith.  ... Dowd, said Dolan, reads like something out of the Menace, the anti-Catholic Know Nothing newspaper of the 1850s.

The new spirit was first manifest last spring, when scores of bishops denounced Notre Dame for inviting Barack Obama, a NARAL icon, to give the commencement address and receive an honorary degree.

In his May address to the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast, Archbishop Raymond L. Burke said, "In a culture which embraces an agenda of death, Catholics and Catholic institutions are necessarily counter-cultural."

Our new battling bishops may be surprised to find they have a large cheering section among a heretofore silent and sullen faithful who have been desperate to find a few clerical champions.

Blog: Making work meaningful and elevating it to the greatest of human activities

Chatting with a former pupil, I learned that he was living a life of quiet desperation.  He lost his family and is feeling like a robot who mechanically does nothing of consequence day after day.

To help, I searched the web and  tried to recall what I've learned about work but all those were about how things should be.  But most workers have little or no control over that.  So I thought of my own reasons and ways.

First I think of why I work.  A picture of my 4 little kids and wife can make anything bearable.

Then I think how it can get worse.  I look at what others do and things start to look better.  See http://blog.compassion.com/the-dignity-of-work/

Finally and most importantly, I make my work a prayer, an act of worship and adoration by offering it to God.  I pray a morning offering to start my day and short prayers during breaks like, "Lord I offer this to you."  And I know that I am like a monk who is constantly praying and in the process, doing the greatest thing that a man can do.

Blog: "What will make you happy?" asked my 6 year old daughter.

Last Sunday, my kids and I built a leaf pile that they tore into by
jumping in it, burrowing under it,
throwing the leaves at each other,
putting it inside their clothes and
chasing each other around it.
While this was
going on, I taped the event then sat on the swing to rest.

My 6 year old daughter walked up, looked me in the eye and asked, "Are you happy Dad? I said I am. Unconvinced
she continued, "What will make you happy Dad?" I
answered spontaneously, "If you and your brothers get
along and are happy, then I'll be happy." "What if you played with us?" she persisted. "I'm a little tired right  now"
I said.  So, she talked to her siblings and soon they all came bearing leaves to shower on me." I just smiled.

Later that night, I asked my wife if she put her up to it.
"No", my wife answered. "But I always tell them that they
will make us happy if they are obedient and don't fight
each other." So it truly came from my daughter.

She's the one whom I've blogged about from time to time because of her temper. But now she's growing fast,
becoming perceptive and truly loving. I confess that in my life that is what I consider as the purest act of love that has been bestowed upon me; I felt like kneeling to thank God for it. It was enough to make me dump all my baggage so
that I can focus on her instead and love her in return.

Video: Spiritual realities shown by ghost captured on tape.

Please be warned that the images in the video have reportedly driven people to insanity or suicide.  So please consider this warning before watching.

The video shows ghost(s) that may or may not be real.  I'll leave it up to you.  I think it is real and I posted it to convince people of the spiritual realities.  Others ignore that aspect of life and plan to cross the bridge when they get there.  However, it may be too late by then if they ended up being and doing evil.  So, to wake people up here it is.  Again if you tend to be frightened easily, then you may want to skip this.

Blog: Don't ask what the priest said at Confession, How I encouraged spiritual reading, St. John Bosco's novel approach to Confession

Don't break the seal of confession
Last week, the parents of the first communicants were required to attend a lecture from the pastor about the sacraments.  It reminded me not to ask my kids about what the priest would say to him because, that is a violation of the seal of Confession.

St. John Bosco made saints by confession
One of the novelties of St. John Bosco's method is that he encouraged his boys to go to confession as ofter as the church allows i.e. once a week.  That was a novelty back then and is even now.  But it works because there are over 30 people on the way to canonization because of this.  The theology is that you get grace every time you receive the sacrament.  So, would you rather get it once a week or less frequently?

Spiritual reading for my boys
My boys, 10 & 7 yr. olds, keep asking me for jobs to earn money because they do not have an allowance.  I give them extra jobs on top of their chores like weeding the garden or mopping the house.  Tonight I saw my 10 year old boy finish a 100+ pages of Harry Potter and that gave me an idea to encourage spiritual reading.  I offered all of them a penny per page for extra reading  and 2 cents if it is about the saints or the Bible.  I told my son not to read about witches but try the Hardy Boys instead.  He is open to the idea.

Not martyr material yet
During our marriage preparation classes, I recall being told that sometimes you have to pull back from your kids to recharge yourself.  On Saturdays, I function as the butler/dad to my 4 kids - specially with my 2 year old.  Today was a little hard as she would pull me from bed to the dinner table.  After I have served her with a glass of milk, a bowl of cereal, a banana and some juice, she still pulls me beside her as though she wanted me just to stand next to her.  But I was really exhausted - mentally, emotionally and  physically.  I recalled the lesson and took some time for myself to recover by locking myself in the bedroom to take a nap.  Later, I told my wife about it and she said that my daughter might be missing me a lot.  She does call me at work during the day and babble.  She's 2.

Opposition to Pro-Abortion Laws Gains More Support from Various Christian Groups

It's not a Catholic issue anymore.  And with support from the mainstream churches, the opposition to pro-abortion policies and laws has become a formidable force.  145 Christian leaders from various denominations have  united to oppose pro-abortion laws like those embedded in the health-care proposals.

Excerpt:

By LAURIE GOODSTEIN
Published: November 20, 2009

Citing the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s call to civil disobedience, 145 evangelical, Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christian leaders have signed a declaration saying they will not cooperate with laws that they say could be used to compel their institutions to participate in abortions, or to bless or in any way recognize same-sex couples.

“We pledge to each other, and to our fellow believers, that no power on earth, be it cultural or political, will intimidate us into silence or acquiescence,” it says.
The manifesto, to be released on Friday at the National Press Club in Washington, is an effort to rejuvenate the political alliance of conservative Catholics and evangelicals that dominated the religious debate during the administration of President George W. Bush. The signers include nine Roman Catholic archbishops and the primate of the Orthodox Church in America.

Seminary Memoirs: Salesian Purity and 'Delicatezza'

St. John Bosco emphasized chastity as the hallmark of his religious society.  If the Jesuits are renowned for their obedience, the Franciscans for their poverty, then the Salesians (of St. John Bosco) will be distinguished by their chastity.  He was prophetic in insisting that those working with boys should excel in this virtue because they will be in grave danger.

When I was in the college seminary back in Asia, we slept in dorms where there are around 50 beds in one big enclosure.  Whenever we changed or went for showers, we wrapped a towel around our waist.  That was one of our practices of  'delicatezza'  - translated as a mix of of refinement, sensitivity, modesty, purity and chastity.  We even washed our own underwear even if we had a laundry service.  Whenever we talked to women, we look at the entire face and not in the eyes.  We don't tell green jokes and we controlled our curiosity or practiced custody of the senses.

When I went to the States, I met religious brothers who talked about mooning others during summer camp.  I know what mooning is and I was shocked that men with vows of chastity would drop trou just  for the fun of it.  But I did not react.  It must be an American thing, I thought.  Then I met others who talked about nude beaches in California.  I guess I have to be realistic because the kids know about these too.  Then there were others who talked about how they look when wearing spandex trunks.  I must have stood out that someone said that a women can be raped in front of me and I would not know about it.  I just let that one pass.

Then, there was this professor at Catholic U who was teaching a form of sexual morality that is not in conformity with Catholic ethos and morals.  So, he got canned.  But he was there for a few years teaching his lunacy.  How many clerics bought his venom?

How much of this is cultural?  And even if this were so, Christianity is counter-cultural.  It is not of this world.  Looking back, I know that the strict 'delicatezza' way of preserving purity is the way to go.

Blog: Bishop says pro-aborts excommunicate themselves automatically.

While a formal notice from a bishop provides a clear and definite sign, excommunication is actually done by the person to himself according to Bishop Camino of Madrid.  So, the politicians who vote for abortion laws and policies automatically cut themselves off from salvation offered through the Church.  While it may be difficult to enforce, these politicians need to be honest enough to exclude themselves from Holy Communion because they are in a state of public sin.  If they persist in receiving the sacred species, then they exacerbate their fault with sacrilege.

The entire article is at http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/printerfriendly.html?articleid=09111308  or click here

Excerpts:

MADRID, November 13, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The secretary general of the Spanish bishops' conference, Auxiliary Bishop Juan Antonio Martinez Camino of Madrid, warned that Spanish Catholic legislators who vote in favor of a bill to liberalize abortion which is currently before parliament would publicly place themselves in an "objective state of sin" and therefore may not receive Communion.

Excommunication is provided in the Code of Canon Law for those who cooperate actively in the practice of abortion," Bishop Martinez Camino stated in an AFP report.
He said Catholics cannot support the legalization of abortion and if they do "they will objectively find themselves in a public state of sin and may not be admitted to Holy Communion."
While "the Church cannot judge their subjectivity," he added, those who "directly collaborate" in or promote abortion incur excommunication.

Video: Reinvigorating a Cynical, Jaded or Tired Church. Feel the Rush!

Video description by http://www.youtube.com/user/philos71
A few years back I watched the famous Christian video The Revival Hymn, casing classic sermons by preachers I have come to love so much. Mind you, the majority are all from the 50's to the 80's. So for quite some time I have desired to come up with a "redux" version, with effects and all the bells and whistles to keep the sinner awake, lol. So through out a month, I did research and put this 10 minute video together. Just the making of it, and the watching of it over and over again, has changed my life completely. I truly hope it does something for you.

This video became something very special to me. I have come to a phase in my walk with Christ where I've been seeking more depth, more knowledge of God and ways to revive these dry, old bones. If you have the same sentiment as I, then these are going to be the best 10 minutes you'll spend in a long time. It is a symphony of what preaching used to be like in the past. I am saddened by the pulpits in the churches across America, to put it quite simply, church ain't what it used to be.

For those of you that have asked me the question "how do I get closer to God?" The answer is here. And to all my atheist friends here on Youtube, I have the deepest longing that you find, one day, the God these men are preaching about. My desire is to see Christians here on Youtube putting things of the flesh behind and focusing on the topics that these men of God preach about. This is the secret, and the enemy has been successful here on Youtube among the Christian community. My desire is that you, watching this, will be on your knees at the end of the show. Don't hold anything back, life is short and you were made to experience and know God. My new videos here on Youtube will be geared towards this need here amongst the Christians.

Be sure to share this video with your friends, and be my guest: show it wherever you feel is a little cold.

The 54-minute film explores one of Chinas best-kept secrets: religion. From a rural underground parish and a clandestine seminary to the government supported Buddhist Temples and Islamic mosque at the heart of Beijing, the country is undergoing a massive resurgence of religious belief - and the authorities do not know how to handle it.

The Catholic Church too in China is undergoing a remarkable resurgence, yet tensions still exist between official and underground churches though great strides have been made between the Vatican and the Chinese authorities to establish a modus vivendi.

Blog: A battle won; time to execute the traitors

A pro-life amendment to the healthcare reform bill passes thanks to the grassroots efforts of ordinary citizens who pressured their representatives.  While we watch intently to ensure that no slight of hand tricks happen at the last minute in the combined version, we remember what happened just a week ago.

The USCCB has requested every diocese to explain how the proposed bill contained provisions that fund abortion from federal funds and even prepared a handout to be distributed with the bulletin.  From the polls later, it appears that only a few churches collaborated.  The question is why?

Some say it was rushed.  But how did the other communities manage?  Everyone got the notice at the same time.

Others think that it will be meddling in partisan politics and that can jeopardize the tax exemption of the Church.  Ka-ching! That's 30 pieces of silver for the unborn.

Then there are those in liberal communities who will not welcome such an opposition.  Places like the archdiocese of Washington, D.C. filled with feminists, Democrats, and liberals make it daunting to speak about the sin of abortion.  So, the bishop tucks tail and run.  Like St. Peter, he denies the Lord over and over again.  I just hope he will repent soon or just step down because he cannot protect God's unborn.

Still others are quiet dissenters from the Church's teaching against abortion.  Those need to be identified and reported to the Vatican.  Just think that only 30% of the bishops protested Notre Dame's awarding of an honorary degree in law to a man who has consistently denied the weakest their most fundamental and inalienable right to life.

So, if your bishop did not have the notice read in his diocese you may want to ask.  Needless to say that what is worse than a wolf in sheep's clothing  is a wolf in the shepherd's garb.

Planned Parenthood has been a part of Abby Johnson's life for the past eight years; that is until last month, when Abby resigned. Johnson said she realized she wanted to leave, after watching an ultrasound of an abortion procedure.
"I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that's it," said Jonhson.
She handed in her resignation October 6. Johnson worked as the Bryan Planned Parenthood Director for two years.
According to Johnson, the non-profit was struggling under the weight of a tough economy, and changing it's business model from one that pushed prevention, to one that focused on abortion.
"It seemed like maybe that's not what a lot of people were believing any more because that's not where the money was. The money wasn't in family planning, the money wasn't in prevention, the money was in abortion and so I had a problem with that," said Johnson.
Johnson said she was told to bring in more women who wanted abortions, something the Episcopalian church goer recently became convicted about.
"I feel so pure in heart (since leaving). I don't have this guilt, I don't have this burden on me anymore that's how I know this conversion was a spiritual conversion."
Johnson now supports the Coalition For Life, the pro-life group with a building down the street from Planned Parenthood. Coalition volunteers can regularly be seen praying on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood. Johnson has been meeting with the coalition's executive director, Shawn Carney, and has prayed with volunteers outside Planned Parenthood.
On Friday both Johnson and the Coalition For Life were issued temporary restraining orders filed by Planned Parenthood.
Rochelle Tafolla, a Planned Parenthood spokesperson issued the following statement: "We regret being forced to turn to the courts to protect the safety and confidentiality of our clients and staff, however, in this instance it is absolutely necessary."
The temporary restraining order contends that Planned Parenthood would be irreparably harmed by the disclosure of certain information, but does not bar Johnson or Coalition For Life volunteers from the premises.
As of Sunday evening, neither Johnson nor Carney had seen the complaint filed against them that prompted the restraining order.
A hearing about the order has been set for November 10.
