In Ethiopia, Muslims burn 69 churches, forces 4000 Christians to flee over rumor

An Ethiopian court has sentenced 558 people to jail terms ranging from six months to 25 years for attacks on Christians that displaced thousands and led 69 churches to be burned to the ground. More than 4,000 members of local Protestant denominations were forced to flee near the town of Asendabo, some 300 kilometres (186 miles) west of the capital, in March during a rare bout of religious violence.
Mobs of Muslim youths carried out week-long attacks on Protestants after rumours that desecrated pages from the Koran had been found at a church construction site. Authorities reported a single death from the attacks.

...Days later, the protests against the burning of the church persisted, this time in the working-class district of Mokattam. Christians again demanded an end to what they describe as “discrimination and inaction by the State”.

On March 8, fighting broke out in Manshier Nasr, a garbage district of Mokattam, as both Christians and Muslims began throwing rocks at each other. Witnesses said the military, which came to disperse the protestors, fired shots into the air and then opened fire on the crowds of people. Once the conflict finally ended in the early morning hours of March 9, at least nine Coptic Christians had been killed and more than a hundred others from both sides were injured.

“We were at one side and the Muslim on the other, we have hundreds of injured at the Coptic side,” an eyewitness told Assyrian International News Agency. “The Muslims were shooting from behind the army tanks.”

My comments:  We're not allowed to expose that Mohammed married an 8 year old, is a murderer, extortionist, polygamist, robber and someone who made up a cult using the existing religions at the time. Two peasant brothers were brutally crucified on “the example of Christ” as forces loyal to Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara continue to target perceived supporters of his ousted Christian predecessor, Laurent Gbagbo.

Raphael Aka Kouame died of his injuries; incredibly his younger brother, Kouassi Privat Kacou, survived the ordeal. The pair were badly beaten and tortured before being crudely nailed to cross-shaped planks by their hands and feet with steel spikes on 29 May.

“A Nigerian church, the Universal Kingdom of God’s Church , Yoff road Dakar, Senegal, was Sunday, attacked by suspected Muslim youths in the area.

The church was burnt down by the rampaging youths while its more than two dozens members, all Nigerians , who were at a worship service during the attack were severely injured.

The victims are at present receiving medical attention at Philips Health Centre Manguillene Senghor.

The pastor of the church, Rev. Roland, said that, ‘it was around 10:00hrs during service that people armed with sticks and clubs broke into the church. And without any explanation, they attacked the faithfuls, they snatched mobile phones, before setting fire to the place of worship.’” Read more.
